Sharon Wight with Dan FalconeAt the chapter's Annual Installation of Officers and Potluck, we celebrated the announcement of the 2024 Barbershopper of the Year for Hanover Chapter. We bestowed the honor on Sharon Wight, a baritone singer in VoxStars and our Treasurer. Below are the words of our Music Director and 2023 Barbershopper of the Year, Dan Falcone.

----------

"We have had many folks stepping up this past year to help our organization flourish, our gigs be successful, our parties be jubilant, and our finances be sound.  Thank you for giving your time and energy to this chapter!

Tonight we honor a person who has selflessly given of her time and energy to support this chapter.  Sharon is thoughtful in her responses and emails me to let me know how she can help and her opinions on chapter matters.

Sharon just loves singing and finds many ways to make music a central part of her life.  She belong to at least three or four choirs.  She even has traveled to other countries to sing in unity with other people in the world.   She was also one of the first people to join this new mixed chorus [VoxStars] that was started right before the pandemic!

When she was asked to serve on the board, she agreed to give back to our organization.  Matters are handled quickly and transparently.

There are many firsts as we bestow the BOTY award upon her.  She is the first VoxStar to be recognized and also the first woman!  President Anthony [Helm] has said, 'In the past several years I have come to appreciate Sharon's meticulous efforts to manage our finances, to keep the Board apprised regularly of our fiscal health, and to educate me in the process. At the same time, as a member of VoxStars, and other Upper Valley choruses, I know that she is committed to making music and always prepared to lift her voice and join it with others.'

Congratulations and thank you to Sharon Wight!"
